Backup rules- AWS backup rules define a backup, specifying a schedule, backup frequency, and others. Backup rules can be applied to a specific resource, or to groups of resources.
Lifecycle rules- AWS lifecycles rules define what will happen with the old backups. Lifecycles rules allow to move backups to cheaper storage tiers, or delete them completely, after a specified period of time.
Vault- RDS snapshots and other backups are stores at the vault which has its own permission model, and each vault is encrypted by a Key Management Service (KMS) Key.
